Oct. 16, 2012

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Navy women's cross country sophomore Annie-Norah Beveridge was named the NAAA Athlete of the Week Presented by Rolls-Royce after helping the Mids to their second consecutive Star Meet victory over Army last weekend. It's the first NAAA Athlete of the Week award for Beveridge.

Beveridge led Navy to a 20-40 win over rival Army in the Star Meet last weekend as she established a U.S.N.A. course record time of 21:13. The native of Ann Arbor, Mich., completed the 6k course 24 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher, Lisa Junta of Army, and shattered the previous course record of 21:45 set by American's Keira Carlstrom in 2004.

In all, Navy runners took seven of the top-10 places in the dual to pick up their second consecutive win over the Black Knights.

Beveridge has been Navy's top finisher in five of six meets this season, placing in the top-15 of all six races.

Navy will have this weekend off to prepare for the Patriot League Championships, which will take place on Oct. 27 in Hamilton, N.Y.
