Women's Cross Country to Compete at Heptagonal Championship

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The Navy women's cross country team will compete at the Heptagonal Cross Country Championship in New York City's Van Cortlandt Park Friday at 11:30 a.m.

Navy will be competing against Brown, Cornell, Columbia, Dartmouth, Harvard, Pennsylvania, Yale and Princeton. Princeton is the defending champion of this meet. The Midshipmen took fourth at last year's meet.

The Navy women's cross country team is currently 5-0 in 2000. Melissa Foon (Sr./Lexington, Ky.) has recorded three first-place finishes, with her most recent coming against Army last weekend. Captain Amy Baxter (Sr./Cheshire, Conn.) has had a strong season as well. She has three top-five finishes and her highest finish was second against Army.

Navy will return to action November 11, when they head to the District II Regional, hosted by Penn State.
