Three of the Midshipmen’s top-four finishers ran personal-best times on the 6,000-meter course. Team captain Melanie Stock (Sr./Mechanicsburg, Pa.) ended her four-year cross country career in style as she was named to the All-Region team for her top-25 overall finish (23rd/21:41). Also setting a new personal record were sophomores Abby Wilder (So./Lake Geneva, Wis.), finishing 44th with a time of 22:19 and Stephanie Patterson (So./Mayville, Mich.), who placed 60th with a time of 22:35. Lisa Procaccini (Jr./Vienna, Va.) (54th place/22:32), Kristyn Kern (Fr./Commerce Twp., Mich.) (78th/22:58), Maureen Carr (Jr./Fair Haven, Md.) (81st/23:02) and Colleen Maloney (So./Canton, Ohio) (121st/23:52) all finished in point-scoring positions for Navy, who trailed Georgetown, Villanova, Bucknell, La Salle, Penn State, Princeton and West Virginia in the 28-team field. “It was good to beat Pennsylvania (10th-place showing) and to tie with Pittsburgh, because those are both teams that we lost to earlier this season,” said Navy 15th-year head coach Karen Boyle. “This was a great day for our entire group of runners.” Navy concludes its dual-meet season with a 5-1 record, including a victory in the squad’s only home meet of the year –– the Sept. 8 Navy Invitational.
