Nov. 13, 2012
ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Cross country sophomore Annie-Norah Beveridge has been named the NAAA Athlete of the Week Presented by Rolls-Royce. It is the third time this season Beveridge has earned the honor.
Beveridge led the Mids to a seventh-place finish at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship on Saturday by placing ninth overall. Beveridge's finish, which was the best by a Mid at the event since Melissa Foon took third in 2000, earned her All-Mid-Atlantic Region accolades.
By virtue of her finish at the regional championship, Beveridge earned a bid to the NCAA Women's Cross Country Championship. The native of Ann Arbor, Mich., will be the seventh Mid to compete in the NCAA Championship, joining Jess Palacio (2011), Amy Watson (2008), Foon (2000), Rebecca Cline (1997), Jackie Hayes (1995) and Kerry O'Neill (1992).
The NCAA Championship will take place this Saturday at noon in Louisville, Ky.
Beveridge added to her lengthy list of accolades this past week with an accomplishment off the field as well. On Wednesday, she was one of seven conference student-athletes voted to the Academic All-Patriot League Team. The Patriot League Runner of the Year is an international relations major with a 3.51 GPA.
