Navy Women Finish in 11th Place at NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional
Lock Haven, Pa. -- The Navy women's cross country team concluded the 2003 season with an 11th-place finish at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional today on the campus of Lock Haven University. Freshman Emily Castro (Centennial, Colo./Cherry Creek) was the top finisher for the Mids, taking 35th overall with a time of 21:46 on the 6k course. Georgetown took the top team honor today, as five Hoyas finished in the top-20. Senior Stephanie Patterson (Mayville, Mich./Mayville) concluded her Navy cross country career by taking 53rd with a time of 22:22, while fellow senior and team captain Colleen Maloney (Canton, Ohio/Canton Central Catholic) finished with a time of 22:49 to take 76th place. Seven Navy runners packed tightly and finished within a 1:19 range, as Navy rounded out the squad with four freshmen. Allison Barlow (Orange Park, Fla./Clay) took 61st with a time of 22:33, Juliann Jordan (Kaneohe, Hawai'i/Punahou) snagged 77th with a time of 22:49, Christine Taranto (Coraoplis, Pa./West Allegheny) posted a time of 22:58 for 85th and Erin Demchko (Nanuet, N.Y./Pearl River) recorded a time of 23:05 for a 96th-place finish.
