Tom McKavitt

Tom McKavitt is in his sixth year at Navy, where he serves as Associate Athletic Director for Facilities & Maintenance.

Prior to his current position, McKavitt spent 23 years in the U.S. Navy in naval aviation as a bombardier/navigator in the A-6 Intruder aircraft. He completed five carrier-based deployments to the Mediterranean Sea and Arabian Gulf - logging over 2,000 flight hours and over 550 carrier-arrested landings. Following his final tour of duty as the Base Operations Officer and Installation Manager at the U.S. Naval Academy, he retired from active duty with the rank of Commander (O-5).

McKavitt earned his master's degree in Aeronautical Engineering and engineer's degree in Aeronautical & Astronautical Engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School in 1990. Prior to those degrees, he earned his bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1983.

McKavitt currently resides in Annapolis with his wife Margaret - a Navy Nurse Corps officer - and their three children - Patrick (USNA '10), Erin and Sean.
